Pepe is a sensitive soul — extremely intelligent and affectionate — but unfortunately not very lucky when it comes to his health.
In 2020, he developed a benign tumor on his front right leg, which was removed that same year. The biopsy showed a collagenous skin tag. Unfortunately, over the years the tumor reappeared and, due to its location and size, it could not be surgically removed.
Pepe began to suffer, and eventually, at the beginning of 2025, his leg had to be amputated. He is now a tripod dog and over the past year has had to adjust to his new reality. Today, however, Pepe runs again and smiles!
In addition, he has a heart murmur, which we monitor every six months with an ultrasound performed in Syros, as this service is not available on our island. For his heart condition, he follows a steady medication regimen.

When he was found, he was skinny, hungry, exhausted — and one of his legs was badly injured. And yet…Quervo chose love. He is incredibly sweet and friendly with everyone he meets. Completely human-centered, he adores cuddles and affection. Every single day he welcomes us with huge enthusiasm — and then it’s playtime! He wants to be next to you. On the sofa. Looking into your eyes. Feeling safe.
Quervo has a cruciate ligament rupture in his back left leg. He shouldn’t run abruptly or jump from high places. He must not run fast or jump from heights, which is why he needs to take expensive, specialized supplements. He has also undergone surgery to remove a tumor from one of his legs. We never regretted the expense, no matter how difficult our financial situation was, no matter how much it cost us… But he will absolutely enjoy nature walks and the warmth of a loving home.

Kylo – A sensitive dog who needs time and security

Kylo was found on the streets of a village with his mother. They both had a very difficult life, hunted by people who killed many of Kylo’s siblings. He survived by hiding all day and only coming out at night to find food in the trash. He is shy, insecure, and needs time and peace. Unfortunately, Kylo recently developed a vision problem for which he received treatment but needs regular monitoring.
Unfortunately, due to his particular character, Kylo has stayed with us a little longer than we would have liked, but that means we enjoy him a little more. However, our expenses are constantly increasing, and we would like to find virtual adoptions for this wonderful creature so that we can give him everything he needs.

Rafaelo – A resilient soul fighting for a better future
Rafaelo was found at the end of December wandering like a ghost in the village of Filoti. A kind girl rescued him and fostered him for about a week before he came to our temporary care.
From the very beginning, we realized something was wrong. He appeared to have a vision disorder, and his behavior was like that of a dog with no life experience. He followed us but never ran to enjoy his freedom. He seemed afraid in a very unusual way and showed almost no emotions.
Two weeks later, we found him nearly unconscious after a severe epileptic seizure, followed by many more the same day. After his first veterinary visit in Naxos and the start of medication, further examination was strongly recommended.
Once treatment began, it was like meeting a completely different dog — active, ears up, making eye contact, finding his voice, and becoming more engaged with the world. As he started stabilizing he also began muzzle and harness training.
In mid-January, Rafaelo traveled to Syros with a volunteer escort to visit a veterinary clinic. He stayed there for two weeks and underwent extensive testing, including an abdominal ultrasound, brain CT scan, blood tests, and was also neutered. The diagnosis suggests a form of encephalitis, likely responsible for his vision problems and epileptic seizures.
Today, Rafaelo is back with us, stable and showing us an even sweeter, more open side of his character. We are by his side, fighting for his better future.

❤️ Galinos was found in May 2020 on Ammitis beach, under a small pile of wood and reeds, paralyzed and extremely thin.
Terribly scared, he would bite anyone who came within half a meter. A volunteer managed to push him with a thick blanket into a transport box.
At the vet, it was revealed that his stomach and intestines were full of sand – he had been surviving by eating whatever he could find.
With love, patience, and care, he recovered, but his fears of human touch remain to this day.

Dear human,
I don’t know much about the world outside the shelter.
But I know what safety feels like when you look into my eyes.
I know warmth when you let me lie next to you on the sofa.
As a puppy, I ran terrified in the middle of the road.
Only luck saved me.
I was so small… and so scared.
Today, I am calm and gentle.
I love cuddles, sunlight, nature, life beside humans who understand me.
I don’t ask for much.
A little patience. A little love. A quiet, warm home.
I have hip dysplasia, but it doesn’t stop me.I also had surgery for a twisted stomach and was literally saved at the last minute thanks to the vigilance and self-sacrifice of the volunteers who rushed me to the doctor. Like my brother, I have to eat very expensive, specialized clinical food and take daily supplements so that I can move comfortably and without pain.

❤️ Joscha and his siblings were abandoned in 2020 in a remote area of Agiasos, at about 3 months old.
They were all fearful and impossible to catch in the open area, so volunteers had to bring water and food daily until a trap could be set. The effort took several days.
All of his siblings were adopted, but little Joscha was more traumatized and fearful, and his adoption remains extremely difficult.
Despite this, his progress is remarkable: he now trusts touch and affection, and goes on short walks with guidance.

Gigis was only 5–6 years old when a family friend “trained” him with violence. After that, even his owners couldn’t handle him. He was chained to the ground with a 1-meter chain, inside a 1-meter high fenced area with no door, no shade, and surrounded by garbage and his own waste.
A brave volunteer spent days gaining his trust and finally managed to cut the chain and bring him to safety. Gigis was terrified and highly protective, but step by step, he is learning to feel safe again.
Today, he enjoys soft blankets, gentle petting, and is slowly discovering the joy of human companionship. Over the past few months, we’ve been able to take him on walks in our exercise area, and he’s becoming more relaxed, playful, and confident every day.
