We rescue and protect companion animals by providing for their wellbeing, rehabilitation and rehoming. We advocate for a more compassionate society and work tirelessly to rally our local communities and schools around our mission. We would not be here today – 20 years old – if it were not for our volunteers, donors, fosters and partner organisations. IT ALL BEGAN WITH…
A deep concern for the large amount of stray dogs and cats on Naxos and really wanted to make a difference in their lives. At NAWS we implement the trap – neuter – release program for cats, care for sick animals, organize fosters and adoptions, cooperate with authorities in animal abuse cases, organize seminars in schools and educate the community about best care for animals. Because of NAWS there are no longer stray dogs on the island. When we began our work on Naxos it was actually dangerous to take a stroll on certain beaches because you were besieged by packs of stray dogs. Fast forward to 2025 where there are hardly any stray dogs as we pick up strays and give them a new chance on life with a loving home!
Today our work is extensive and it is all done by our dedicated volunteers with your generous donations.
