DOGS FOR ADOPTION
Eleana is very active and she wil be very loyal. She likes free running like she has never run free and she is a very good eater. She is ok on the leash and in the car. She knows to give both her paws if she is asked to and she is a very good student if anyone wants to train her. To our temporary foster area she seems not to like cats and she is picky with dogs. Before she comes to us, Eleana was wandering for days in the area of Kastraki, searching for food to the garbage bins. She ended up to an old lady's yard and stayed there, until we got her. Even though the house had an open yard and Eleana could leave at anytime, she didn't move from there, since she was fed. In the neighborhood there were a lot of cats and people who walked their dogs, but she never bothered for any other animal.

Mocca is an active, playful, full of life and joy, young lady. She is waiting for her human and she is ready to learn new thingsl She doesn't seem to have any fears, but if she feels insecure she becomes nervous. She likes other dogs and loves running free. She is fine in the car, on the leash and is social with humans. She needs a home with active people, maybe older kids to play with her and a garden to run! Mocca is vaccinated and neutered. In the past she had an owner and lived in field, with no human interaction.

Hiba was found chained in a garbage area by some tourists and she was so thin and terrified. In the beggining she was very afraid of everything and humans most of all. One month later she started feeling confident and started barking and crying for attention. Hiba adores human contact, she loves playing and being part of a group. In the beggining she was afraid of other dogs, but now she is interested in other dogs, unless they jumb on her. We are working to correct her insecurity and she is happy to interact with us. She is a beautiful drama queen using her voice for everything. Hiba needs people that will follow them to a routine and an active life in nature. She is fine on the leash, she is vaccinated

Bella is an intelligent and very well behaved dog when she is with her human and her needs are covered. She walks perfect on the leash, she is fine in the car, she knows the "sit" commant and gives her paw. Bella was a family dog until her owner died suddenly last year. After that for some time she was tied and fed by another man and finally she came under our care. After the loss of her family, she knows how to survive and take care of her self. The shock of the loss of her previous family and the beggining of a life, permanently chained, was truly a trauma for her... She needs only love, to relax again and focus. Bella needs a bit experienced person and a family that is into activities. She is healthy, vaccinated and neutered.
Iris grew up in a family in Apollonas village but has always been an outdoor dog, as she was not allowed to go inside the house. Because of some serious helath prblems of the family, Iris spent 6 difficult months to a chain in a field and finally the owners contacted us... She is a strong, healthy and very smart girl that slowly finds herself with us. She likes every human and says a warm hallo to all. She is not used to be on a leash and because of her chained life she is pulling in the beggining and this is the reason she needs people with strength to teach her. She has already made great progress and the pulling is only at the start from excitement. She doesn't want to be disturbed while eating, as most dogs. She loves to get a bath but not to step in the water! Iris needs a home with active people in the countryside. She has no fears and will be a great companion for strong people. She is healthy, vaccinated and neutered.
Meli was found by a tourist chained under a tree last November and fostered her for several months before she ends up to us. She is active and happy like a puppy. She is a good jumper and great runner! She plays with balls and toys and is social to the bone! Meli will fit to a family with older children and we think she wouldnt have problem to be in a town or in countryside, as long as she has long walks, running, to get her energy out. Better not in a home with cats. She has never hurt one, but she gets alert as soon as she sees one. She is healthy, vaccinated and neutered.
Czarny was abandoned in the area of Alyko. He always kept big distance from people passing and was eating at one of our cat feeding stations, close to the area. Volunteers went every day to feed him tasty food so we could one day catch him. When he came at the shelter we were very gentle and we gave him the time that he needed. He trusted one person at a time. He adores to run free in the field and chase lizards, as he has hunting instict. He is happy and relaxed with calm people that give him space to choose and at the same time guide him. He needs a home in the countryside without big, sudden noises and calm, loving people that will take him for big walks or let him hunt butterflies in their garden! When he shows his character, he is full of love. He is afraid of touching which means he had been abused. He needs time to understand that nobody will hurt him anymore. Czarny is vaccinated and neutered.

Roger is a beautiful dog with all the characteristics of a pointer! Active, social, smart and playful to the bone! He is very tender and he enjoys the petting very much. He is also human-centered and every time he meets a volunteer he is very happy and excited.When we found Roger, he was skin and bones. He was extremely thin and so hungry, a few steps before he collapses. That's why the first months that he was with us, he was protecting his food. Now knows he will not starve again and all he wants is to play. Due to his breed, he likes to smell the space around him and to hunt lizards. Unfortunately one more hound that was abandoned, probably because he did not do his job well. He deserves a second chance at a life with people who will love him. Roger still needs work and training in walking and socializing.

When he was found, he was very skinny, hungry, tired and one of his legs was badly injured. He is a unique dog, a sweetheart, a friendly animal with everyone that he meets! He is human centered and he enjoys cuddles and petting! He is very playful and every day he comes to welcome us with great enthousiasm and then we play! Quervo needs a home in Greece, without cats or other small animals. He has been trained with other dogs, but he would need some time and require your supervision till he becomes your dog’s best friend. He would very much appreciate though if he was the center of your attention and lay beside you on the sofa! Unfortunately he has cruciate ligament rupture to his back left leg and he shouldn’ t run and stop immediately and jump from high places. But he will really enjoy walks in nature and the coziness and warmth of your home. He is ready to find his human! His breed is a strong one, thats why he better go to a house without kids. Quervo’s people need to have some time to spend with him, show him the life in a house and the willingness to give him any training he might need. He is a strong dog with a puppy heart <3. He will be very loyal, looking at you in the eyes and fill you with love!

Jerry is a beautiful, white, big boy! When we found him and his siblings, back in 2017 they were small babies, terrified and lost, running in the middle of the street. We made them feel secure and finally we managed to build their trust for humans. Jerry was a puppy with fears that developed to a real gentleman! He is funny, sensitive, he has a soft soul, he is very sweet and affectionate! In February 2022, he had the opportunity to move to a great foster home for some time and showed us that he is a sweatheart, enjoying a lot the human company and love, being cooperative with everything! He is house trained and he follows the routine that you will teach him. He doesn’t destroy things, he respects the house and he is quite calm. He loves to sleep, he likes his bed mattress and he loves the sofa! When it is time for a walk he waits for you to prepare him. Then he walks by your side, he doesn’t pull and you can walk him easily. He is happy to meet other animals (cats, dogs, horses etc) and then he always goes to greet them! He gets in and out of the car on his own. He sits back and stares outside of his window. Jerry enjoys being both inside and outside of the house and he loves to lay in the sun. When you meet him, he needs time and respect, until he feels comfort with you and his new environment. He needs so little and he is a real prince! He is vaccinated and neutered.
Some more things about Jerry:
– He was diagnosed with dysplasia problem to his hip. He has no problem to go for a big walk, even for an hour, but probably not for more. The vet said he can live with this condition, there is no need of hip replacement, some supplements though would help. He needs a good life with exercise and away from cold. Humidity and cold weather at the shelter are not good for him.
– He may feel a bit scared or insecure with very loud noises, eg. intense wind, storm, motorbikes etc.
– His fron teeth are a bit trimmed, probably because of playing with rocks at shelter.
We love Jerry very much and we hope that he will find the best home! <3
Yuri is a beautiful, white, big guy, sensitive, tender and cuddly! He loves the human company and love. He "fells" in your arms and relaxes totally to receive the petting. He is lovely and he is waiting for a family to show him the world outside of the shelter, to have walks in the countryside and run happily in a garden. He has never been in a house and he might need some time to adjust. He would feel more secure in a calm environment, with no loud noises.We found him and his 2 siblings, when they were small puppies, in a main road of Naxos, in the night and it took our volunteer hours to catch them as they were terrified. It is a miracle we saved them as they were running in the middle of the road, avoiding cars by luck.

Bertie is a strong dog, clever, very active and playful! He is human centered, he loves to play with us, jumbing and running all around to get his toy! He is "roommate" with a female dog at the moment named Lomri. He is very funny, playing and enjoying human company. Bertie needs an experienced family that will respect him, guide him in his new environment and help him socialise as he has been with us for a long time. He was found alone in a beach, looking for food and attention.

Pepe is a sweet soul, very intelligent, affectionate and a very good character! He loves treats, walks and toys. He plays alone with his doll or lies on the dirt when the weather is nice and rubs his back. He is not pulling to the walks and he is perfect in the car! He needs a home with people who will love him, respect him and help him adapt to his new environment, as he has never lived in a house. At the shelter he needs time to get to know people that he doesnt know. To the walk outside of the shelter, he is ok with humans passing by as long they are not very close to him, he doesn’t accept motorbikes passing by very close to him and he is freezing when he sees another dog and might bark, because he is afraid. To the walk outside of shelter he needs more work to not care about the other dogs passing by, but he has already made progress with training. In the shelter he was in the same area with a female dog Misty in the past for a long time. We think he better go to a house either with no other dogs, or with a calm female, but he should be introduced slowly and by experienced people.
Pepe has struggled with his health. He has a large swelling high up on his front right leg which causes him discomfort at times, when e.g. he wants to find a comfortable place to lie down and it shows a little in his walk. Back in 2020, a benign tumor was removed from this spot and the diagnosis of the biopsy was collagenous acrochordon. Unfortunately, over the years it slowly began to swell again, but it is no longer possible to do a new surgery in the same place. From now on all we can do is if we see him in pain, we will give him some painkiller. We are looking for the human who will open his heart and his home and will offer him a better life, with warmth, with his own bed, with walks and lots of caresses.
